Projects
I have become increasingly fascinated with portraits of people over the last couple of years. Anything from staged formal shots to candid on the spur of the moment ones, capturing people when they are most aware and when they are the least aware, both of these give you a glimpse into the person you are shooting. On the one hand you have formal shot where the subject is either giving you their best photo look, or you the photographer are directing them. The staging of this creates an image that is real but at the same time completely imaginary. However a candid portrait, especially where the subject is completely unaware of the camera, creates an image that truely reflects the person at that moment in time. All these portraits become a small fragment of that persons life that is captured, frozen and can then be reshared with anyone. The only thing that doesn't remain the same is the feeling that each person viewing the image has, each person who views an image experiences that moment in the subjects life differently.
I am preparing to embark on a new portraits project very soon, something that will encompass a variety of people and cultures, something that will be new for me and hoepfully those who partake in this project.
